Gingerbread week was SO much fun! We loved getting to read all of the different versions and compare them. The kids loved getting to sing along with me each time the gingerbread man taunted a character!

We created our own gingerbread man glyphs based on following directions. They made certain types of eyes if cookies are their favorite snack and a different type of eyes if they aren't, and a certain mouth for their favorite time of day to eat cookies... and the most telling was how many buttons their gingerbread man has (how many cookies they like to eat)! Most of them had self control and put a reasonable number of cookies, but a couple of them are after my own heart and put an outrageous number of buttons :)

We also ate gingerbread men and graphed which part we bit first... then we talked about the greatest, the least, and all that good stuff! :)

Turns out the kids are much more humane than I am, but I got a cute little trick for next time: if you put icing over their eyes then they can't see it coming! :) SO fun!
On Thursday, we read the version, "Gingerbread Man: Loose In The School" and then sequenced the events of the story by going on our very own scavenger hunt around our school to find the clues! We went to the art room, the gym, the clinic, the principal's office, and our classroom. It got us up and moving and the kids loved getting to solve the riddles!

On Friday, we made our very own individual gingerbread houses with the help of our wonderful volunteer! We couldn't have done it without her so thank you again!

-Math: Comparing 2d & 3d shapes- What is the name of a ball? (sphere) What is the name of a party hat? (cone) What is the name of a box? (cube) What is the name of a can? (cylinder)

Hope you had a wonderful weekend! One more week until Winter Break! :)
With SO much love,
