Living Things: Farm

We moved on from ocean animals to farm animals this week! We are making "All About" books on the animal we picked. We start by researching on PebbleGo and then have a mini-lesson on that day's page of our book; then we're on our own to create!

We also had a special visitor on Thursday who told stories and brought so many props about Abe Lincoln! We love when grandmas are also story tellers! :)

Ask Your Child About:

-Phonics: vowel teams, long vs. short vowels

-Phonemic awareness: the difference between segmenting phonemes (sounds) and syllables!

-Writing: All About books- Front Cover, Body/Diagram, Habitat/Where My Animal Lives

-Reading: Problem & Solution

-Science: Living Things

-Math: Decomposing numbers into ten + ones

FYI:

-iReady END of year diagnostic testing begins Monday, 4/22! Please make sure your child is at school and ready to do his/her best! :)

-Field trip forms and money are past due! If I contacted you, please make sure I have them by Monday!

-Our Field Trip is on Thursday 4/25! I will send out an email so that your kiddo is prepared Wednesday afternoon.

-We had a community circle on Thursday morning about how/why we're safe at school, reviewed what to do during any drill/emergency, and how happy I was they were at school! We didn't discuss any details, though many of them said they knew why we had no school Wednesday. If your child was mature enough to handle details of why school was cancelled, please make sure they know we aren't discussing it with our friends at school. (Please respect that not all children can handle those details!) Thanks for your support!

-Due to our graduation ceremony being so early on May 24th, we will be sending out a link to sign up/get pre-background checked. They are going to let all of the people in who pre-registered first and those who didn't will have to wait until all of them are inside. If you want a good seat to see your kiddo graduate, please be on the look out for that email in May!

Hope you had a wonderful weekend!

With SO much love,

Ms. Ham

Meet Ms. Ham

Hi, I'm Ms. Ham!  This is my 6th year teaching kindergarten. I love my job and my students (past and present!)  This website has all of our weekly updates to fill you in on what is going on in our classroom!  I hope that you leave with a kindergartener's enthusiasm for living and learning!
