The first week of 2016 was a fun one! We studied all about the Arctic, Antarctica, and snowmen. But before I share all about our week, the second half of kindergarten brings some big changes in kinderland:
-We write our first AND last names now :) (please practice writing last names at home!)
-Homework changed a little bit to include i-Ready
-We can do the monkey bars now! We learned how to fall from the monkey bars without putting our hands down so we don't break our arms.

We read books on penguins and polar bears and learned about blubber. We did a fun experiment where we stuck our hands in ice water. Then we stuck our hand in a bag of crisco and then into the water to see the temperature difference and how blubber keeps animals warm in the ice water.

We studied the globe and learned where Antarctica is and the Arctic and WHY they are so cold (they're far away from the equator). The kids are LOVING locating places and animals that live in these places on the globe. I have a slight obsession with globes so it makes my heart really happy! :)

This is the new center that is fought over on Friday free center day: Break the Ice with CVC words and digraphs!

We practiced our reading fluency with this fun snowman poem...

Designed felt snowmen and wrote sentences about them...

and made snowman soup! :)
