This short week was jam-packed with the field trip on Tuesday... we had a hard time getting everything done that we needed to!

The field trip to "Street Beat" was a huge hit! It was similar to The Blue Man group but for kids. They loved it, but they also loved the bus! (Oh to be 5 again!)
On Wednesday, we celebrated Martin Luther King Jr. and read many books about his life and his dream and then wrote our own dreams for the future. I explained it to them as what we can do to make the world a better place. Some of their ideas had me appreciating their sweet personalities even more than usual... "setting the world up with balloons," "putting sparkles all over the place," and "helping people be kind."
We then dove right into our landform passports where we visited the forest, plains, mountains, and ocean and we discussed what we needed to bring to each place.

We've been stepping up our thinking maps and doing bubble maps that use describing words (adjectives) to write sentences from the bubble map. They did really well with writing four complete sentences from each of our bubble maps.

We sent home leveled readers to borrow for a week to each kid in their own "Book In A Bag!" thanks to our Donors Choose project! They all are doing so well decoding and being able to read "real books." Please make sure they come back to school on 1/31!

*I scheduled them mainly in the mornings and for only 10 minutes each because I like them to be short and sweet... and believe me, I can gush about how much I just love your kiddo forever so it gives me a cut-off time! :) If you feel that you'll need longer than 10 minutes or need a specific time (ie: after school) please email/text me and we can set that up!
Have a wonderful weekend!
With SO much love,
Ms. Ham
