Happy Weekend! This post is going to have a TON of pictures, so I apologize in advance that it may be overwhelming...
I'm going to start with the 100th day and work backwards:

100 year old Ms. Ham and 100 year old friends! :)

I cannot STAND when upper grades teachers call them cute... because I feel like it belittles how smart and how motivated and how compassionate they are... but let's face it: they're also stinkin' cute! :)

I don't think I've ever laughed so hard and so often at school & that's saying a lot!
We wrote about what we would do if we were 100 years old and I didn't prompt them at all because I wanted their genuine personalities to show through and man oh man, they did not dissapoint!

I mean seriously... he came up with that all on his own! I couldn't contain my laughter! From the mouths of babes!

Kiddo: "Nothing." Me: "Nothing?" Kiddo: "Yeah, old people do nothing!"

We had a blast with our 100th day center rotations & all things 100. The rest of the week was all about maps & globes:

They love learning about the globe and maps so much.
Ask Your Child About:
-Writing: Explanatory/informative writing- We wrote about where we went over the weekend, the globe, and of course what we would do if we were 100 years old!
-Content Connection: Maps & Globes- What does the key help us do? What's the thing that looks like a wheel? (Compass) What does it tell us? (North, East, South, West) What color do is land on a map and globe? (green) What color is the water? (blue). We colored our own world maps and they're proudly on our classroom windows!
-Phonics/Phonemic Awareness: Digraphs ("TH"), CVC words, middle sounds
-Fluency: "Lizzie Lizard" poem!

-Reading: Identify characters, setting, and major events & ask and answer questions about unknown words- Who was the character in "There's A Map on My Lap!"? (The Cat in The Hat and Sally)
-Math: Addition and subtraction within 5- What do we have to look at when we're solving problems? (THE SIGN!!!) woo, this is a tough thing for us! We get on a roll either adding or subtracting and we do not look at the sign... Please practice this at home! :)
Literacy Week Pictures:

Million Minute Reading Marathon's got us like strong bodies, strong minds! ;)

Reading knocks our (CRAZY) socks off!

Reading Lights Up Our World!

Wacky Wednesday! According to the kids, I looked like Mr. Krabs from Spongebob!
Sorry for the novel! Have a wonderful weekend!
With SO much love,
Ms. Ham
