I hope you all had a wonderful winter break and very happy holidays if you celebrate them!
The week before break we had our last holidays of our People and Events of Now and Long Ago unit: Christmas and Kwanzaa.
We read many holiday favorites and quite a few less known books...one of which was a class favorite: "Moosletoe."
On Wednesday, when we got to school we found that our classroom had been vandalized! The kids were destraught to find that our kindness elves were captured and they were hanging by their feet!

Our desks were all messed up and there was green stuff all over the classroom!

The biggest upset was that all of our friends were clipped down to 1 and THE GRINCH was on 4!

They took it upon themselves to clip themselves back to 3 and the Grinch had to go down to 1, "because he was SO bad!" (direct quote from one of our kiddos)

Don't worry, he only licked the wrappers so they were still safe to eat! ;) Once we put our classroom back together and read "How The Grinch Stole Christmas" by Dr. Seuss, we wrote about what we would do to make the Grinch grin. While we were at resource, we got a delivery to the office...

The kids decided that because the Grinch hadn't made any more poor choices since the morning AND he apologized, that we could clip him back to 3. (And I have to say, this was THEIR request... I didn't say anything about it, but I'm SO glad they did... because really, forgiveness is a life skill and kindergarten needs to include life skills!)

Have I mentioned I just love them? :)
Then to top our week off on Friday, we had a special visitor:

The big man himself made a special trip to see us and we enjoyed cookies and juice for snack with him!

It was such a fun week filled with fun Christmas and Kwanzaa books and lessons.
