A Seussical Week

What a whirlwind week... just like I wrote in my note home, I was exhausted and in bed at 7PM almost every night this week, but it is the best kind of exhaustion! :) We jam-packed as many Dr. Seuss books and activities into our schedule as possible and we still have a couple books that we need to read next week during snack or dismissal!

It's almost impossible to share everything we did this week, but here are some highlights:

We started the week off with all things frogs for LEAP day!

Monday was "Bartholomew and the Oobleck" and we of course made oobleck! It was the best batch we've made, so I sent it home with them and I was so relieved I didn't have any angry messages Tuesday morning! :)

SO MUCH FUN!

Tuesday, we read "Green Eggs and Ham" and of course ate green eggs and ham!

One kiddo said that it tasted like Golden Corral and I wasn't sure whether I should be honored or offended...but they almost all asked for seconds, so I'll take it!

On Wednesday we read "Fox In Socks" and my tongue got into trouble!

"My socks are rainbow." We are rocking our bubble maps lately and able to pull information from our bubbles to make sentences!

Thursday, we read "The Cat in The Hat" and made rhyming cats and sequenced the story. We also made handprint Things and this one just made me smile... I don't have them trained at all or anything! "I will not make a mess." They can all tell you that Ms. Ham does not like messes! :)

On Friday, we read "The Cat in the Hat Comes Back" and made a double bubble map to compare and contrast the two stories!

Ask Your Child About:

-Writing: Responses to Literature- Dr. Seuss books! Which book was your favorite and why?

-Content: Earth in Space and Time- Is the sun a planet or a star? (a star) How hot is the sun? (9,939*)

-Phonics: Vowels- What are the vowels? (A, E, I, O, U, sometimes Y) What 2 sounds does each vowel make?

-Reading: Matching pictures to text- Can you tell me why the picture needs to match the words?

-Math: Numbers 16-20, Comparing numbers, Base Ten- Can you show me how to do a tree map and write the equation for 19?

We switched RTI groups this week, and almost all of them are in a new group with a new skill! Ask your child who his/her RTI teacher is now and what they're working on!

If you did not purchase our class picture and would like to, I have a few extras!

Have a wonderful weekend & maybe I'll see a couple of you at the fair!

With SO much love,

Ms. Ham
