Money!

Hi! I am SO sorry that I'm just updating the website now... I'm not sure why it didn't make it on my weekend to do list, but better late than never? [Just humor me & agree!]

We had a really fun week learning about money! The kids really connected it to their own lives and I had two munchkins attempt to sneak or successfully sneak their piggybank money to school! :)

They decorated their own piggy banks and wrote about what they would buy with their piggy bank money! Some of them were just precious... "I would buy my mom a new car."

We also did a penny cleaning experiment where we made predictions about what would clean the penny best... water, soap + water, vinegar, or coke.

Almost all of our class predicted soap + water...

We were wrong & coke cleaned it the best! Only one kiddo predicted that!

Ask Your Child About:

-Writing: Opinion Writing- Write a sentence about what you would do to earn money and why. What would you buy with your piggy bank money?

-Content Connection: Currency- Why do we need money? What does money help us buy? [Things we need and things we want!] How do people earn money? [jobs, allowance]

-Phonics: Vowel combinations: "oy, oi" "ee, ea" ; Blends: "pr/gr" What are some words that end in "oy"? What are some words that start with "pr"? What are some words that start with "gr"?

We love our letter combinations poem and we work on a new combination each day! We are up to ue, ew!

-Reading: Identify main topic and key details. How does the title help us identify the main topic?

-Math: Missing Addend. How do we solve for the missing addend? [Fill in the ten frame using a different color] Can you solve 6 + ___ = 10

Hope you had a wonderful weekend! This week is a big week and we have some BIG news for you so stay tuned :)

And because I think this picture is too cute not to post...

Twinning in our jean jackets :)

With so much love,

Ms. Ham
