This week we moved on to jobs that people do and the tools they need in order to do those jobs. We focused on a different career each day: firefighters, police officers, postal workers, and chefs! (only 4 because Tuesday they had a substitute).
We are back to narrative writing and the kids loved making class stories about each job...but we got on a kick of bad things happening to our poor career people. The mailman lost all the mail, then his truck got a flat tire, then the tow truck had to come. The chef burnt himself, someone stole the recipe, and then he slipped on water he spilled. I requested for happily ever afters to end our stories, but that's not as much fun! ;)
On Wednesday, the incubator was finally to 99.5*F and each kiddo got to pick out an egg to place into the incubator!

It takes 21 days for them to hatch, so they should arrive April 27th! Fingers crossed for a good hatch! So far our little guys have internal organs and their vertebrae starting to form! We read about what's going on in the egg each morning after calendar.
Ask Your Child About:
-Writing: Narrative writing- Can you write a story about a police officer?
-Content Connection: Jobs that people do and the tools they need to do their job- What tools do firefighters need? Police officers? Chefs? Postal Workers?
-Phonics: Blend: "gl"- What are some words that have "gl" in it? Letter Combination: "aw"- What are some words that end in "aw"?
-Reading: Identify the characters, setting, and major events- Who were the characters in "Officer Buckle and Gloria"? Where was the setting of "Pizza At Sally's"?

After reading "Pizza At Sally's," we made our own pizzas and then sang Jack Hartmann's "Pizza Man" as a brain break! The kids loved it.
-Math: Adding and subtracting within 10- decomposing! What number goes first? (The biggest number) Can you decompose 7? (3+4, 5+2, 1+6, etc)

One of our new math centers: 3d magnetic tile builders. They love building 3d shapes!

Love these little faces! :)
Hope you had a wonderful weekend!
With SO much love,
Ms. Ham
