Hi Parents,
We had a fun week that started with celebrating Martin Luther King Jr. and then learning about maps and the globe. The kids had so many questions and we're continuing learning about geography next week too!

(I love laying next to these little faces while we read our Scholastic Magazines. We love working on the floor!)

Ask Your Child About:
-Phonics: Digraphs ("sh", "ch", "th")
-Phonemic Awareness: Sound manipulation- If you change the /h/ in hop to /t/, what is it? (top)
-Reading: Retelling major events
-Math: 2d vs 3d shapes- What is the name of the shape that looks like a ball? (sphere) a party hat? (cone) a box? (cube) a can? (cylinder) ***Please practice naming 3d shapes anywhere and everywhere you are! This is tough for them!
-Writing: What are the parts of a tree map? (Normally the subject is, can, has) What do we write in bubble maps? (Describing words- adjectives)
Updates:
-I am now sending home 5 books in your child's "book bag" in his/her homework folder each week. Please make sure they come back to school IN the bag on Friday. I won't send new books home if I don't receive the old ones back. Thank you for respecting our book loft!
-Our 100th day of school is Thursday, February 2nd and we're celebrating on Friday, February 3rd. Please refer to the note sent home about dressing up. Here is the link to the signup genius for our 100th day centers if you can/will contribute! :)
-I emailed a list of names for Valentines for those who are ahead of the game & asking already! (Time slow down! How is it already almost February with these (not so) little guys?!)
-Keep your eyes out for a save the date for our Valentine's Day Party! Parents ARE invited to this one, so I hope you all can attend.
I hope you had a wonderful weekend!
With SO much love,
Ms. Ham
