Fairy Tales & Fractured Fairy Tales

We had a really fun week comparing and contrasting fairy tales with the twisted/fractured fairy tale. It was a great way to introduce point of view!

In Ninja Red Riding Hood, the wolf takes up yoga to calm down at the end of the story and the kids started meditating... I was laughing so hard! With a full moon week, I'll take any meditation I can get! :)

We also learned a new sight word game and we're challenging Ms. Grever's friends this week!

Lastly- It's Autism Awareness month and we made puzzle pieces that celebrate our differences that are hanging in the front office. This one made me quite happy...

Although I'd like to think that it's a similarity! "I like to read at Ms. Ham's table."

Ask Your Child About:

-Phonics: letter combinations, vowel teams, digraphs

-Phonemic Awareness: sound deletion- What's big without the /b/? (ig)

-Reading: Point of view & Compare/Contrast- Whose point of view did you like better: the 3 little pigs or the wolf?

-Math: measurement & subtraction review- What do you have to do before you can measure length or height or width? (line the ends up!)

-Writing: timelines- What words do we use when writing a timeline story? (First, next, last)

Reminders:

-THIS WEDNESDAY is picture day! :)

-No school Friday!

-Homework & book bags are due Thursday!

***Kindie Graduation is June 2nd!

I added music to the slideshow today & cried watching it! They have accomplished so much this year!

**The Gala is Saturday 4/29- I am volunteering for it and would love to see many of you there! See the website for tickets! :)

Hope you had a wonderful weekend!

With SO much love,

Ms. Ham

Meet Ms. Ham

Hi, I'm Ms. Ham!  This is my 6th year teaching kindergarten. I love my job and my students (past and present!)  This website has all of our weekly updates to fill you in on what is going on in our classroom!  I hope that you leave with a kindergartener's enthusiasm for living and learning!
