We finished up our second week of matter & snowmen this week!

We've been doing some interactive writing on the smartboard & we love it!

We've also been working on a *top secret* project... and it is killing me to not share it (yet). The kids are so funny about it... they're so good about whispering & they even ask to shut our door (I do not like our door being closed ever) so that nobody can hear what we're up to. You're going to love it!
We had some fun with spirit week:

Ask Your Child About:
-Phonics: We've been slowly introducing vowel teams and diphthongs as we come across them in books and writing. Since they aren't kindergarten standards, I think this authentic introduction is best! :)
-Math: We finished up 3d shapes and started the assessment! Look for it coming home this week :) The kids loved this song we've been singing!
-Reading: Story Elements- problem/solution, characters, setting
-Science: Matter- snowmen
-Writing: Handwriting and editing! We've been re-reading our writing and adding carets when we missed a word! This has helped us realize that sometimes our brain works faster than our hands do and it is OKAY... it also prevents us from erasing everything we wrote in frustration!
-Technology: Learn to Read on Starfall (link)
Updates/Reminders:
-We are completely out of snack! If you are willing and able to donate, we will happily accept some donations. :) I know life is crazy sometimes and I love being able to give snack to kiddos who forget occasionally!
-Tuesday 2/6 is the 100th Day! Can't wait to see all the little old men & ladies in our classroom and celebrate being 100 days smarter!
-Wednesday 2/7 is the stuffed animal sleepover. Mrs. Grotts will read our stuffies a bedtime story Wednesday afternoon, so please make sure your child brings one to school! :)
-If you did not get a Valentine note & class list, please email me so that I can email you an electronic version... I'm not naive enough to think everything I put in their cubbies actually makes it to you! ;)
-Be looking for a signup genius for the Valentine Party soon! Our wonderful room mom is planning it with a newborn baby & I want it to be as stressless as possible. If you'd like to help her, please reach out to me! :)
Happy Super Bowl!
With SO Much love,
Ms. Ham
