We're officially in the final unit of kindergarten: living things! Don't panic- it's a long unit & a fun one! We're starting off with two weeks of plants. We learned about plant needs, plant parts, and living vs. nonliving!
The kids know that I definitely DO NOT have a green thumb (I wish!), but we planted our lima beans in our baggies after writing planting plans and we've been checking them each day... it takes 7 days for them to sprout, so fingers crossed they actually do! My stress level for this is high! Ha!

In math this week, we focused on place value hard! The kindergarten standard is only numbers 11-19 but we challenged our brains and went all the way up through 100s because they can!

Ask Your Child About:
-Phonics: vowel combinations - "ai" words (rain, pain, plain, etc.)
-Phonological Awareness: sound manipulation
-Reading: identifying main topic & key details
-Science: Living vs. Nonliving things (plants) - plant parts, plant needs, characteristics of living things vs. nonliving things
-Writing: How to writing (how to plant), Descriptive writing (describing flowers, plants, etc.) Plants tree maps
Important Information/Dates:
-Math Assessments went home this week! Please review and practice any skills missed!
