We had a really fun week focused around the book, "Brown Bear, Brown Bear What Do You See?"

We sequenced the characters in the story so that we could retell the book!

We made our first class book: "Kindergarten, Kindergarten What Do You See?"

Each kiddo has their own page...

The kids find this to be hilarious that they're the characters & it's great sight word practice: I, see, at, me, do, you, what!
Ask Your Child About:
-Phonics: Tt (t, top, /t/), Bb (b, bat, /b/), Ff (f, fun, /f/), Nn (n, nut, /n/), Mm (m, man, /m/)
-Phonemic Awareness: Beginning Sounds & Rhyming
-Writing: The Writing Process

-Reading: Concepts of Print (front cover, back cover, title page, spine, author, illustrator) & Retelling through sequencing
-Math: We've moved onto working with ten frames, but have introduced a new work station to reinforce number sense within five.

-Social Studies: Community Building, Routines & Procedures- We got our classroom jobs this week! We change the every Monday :)
FYI:
-Thursday folders went home this week! Please make sure to empty the folder & send it back to school on Friday! -Homework folders went home on Friday! Homework will be due on Fridays & that folder can stay at home until then if you want... a lot of kids just keep them in their backpacks because then they don't get lost!
-We will be going to library on Mondays at 9:30 starting 9/10!
-We reached 50 paw cards on Friday and will vote to name our mountain lion cub on Tuesday!

-We are going to start differentiated instruction (groups) this upcoming week! If your child came in knowing their letters & sounds, I know the beginning of the year can be tough for them because they already know much of what we're doing, but they're about to be challenged for the rest of the year! :)
-We are doing SO much better with zones of regulation and social skills & we are almost ready to get volunteers coming in! :) :) :)
With SO much love,
Ms. Ham
