We had a fun, short week learning about citizenship & careers! We had many read alouds about police officers, firefighters, and other various careers! The kids' favorite was definitely "Officer Buckle and Gloria!" They loved the safety tips!

We have been working hard labeling our pictures during writing with the beginning sounds! We introduced sentences this week, but right now, we're just focusing on getting as many letters in a word as we can!

We've got reading groups in full swing now & we're focusing on one-to-one correspondence and using the pictures to help us read the words!

We've been working hard on letter identification starting with our names and then working our way up! Even the kiddos who know all 26 are working on writing their names with only the initial letter capitalized! That is part of this week's homework!

We learned a new math game: "Which Numeral Will Win?" which focuses on writing numerals 0-5!

& we still have "Spill Five Beans" as one of our work stations that also focuses on counting, one-to-one correspondence, subitizing, & writing numerals!
Ask Your Child About:
-Phonics: Uu (u, up, /u/), Ii (i, itch, /i/), Cc (c, cat, /c/) Oo (o, octopus, /o/)
-Phonemic Awareness: Beginning Sounds, Rhyming, syllables
-Writing: The Writing Process, labeling pictures with initial sounds
-Reading: Reading Groups!! :) One-to-one correspondence, letter ID, syllables
-Social Studies: Citizenship & Careers
-Math: Patterns, Numerals 0-5, Ten Frames
FYI:
-Please make sure your child is writing his/her name on his/her homework! :)
-Your child will have a sub on Friday! Please make sure you go over expectations before bed on Thursday night!
-Please be sure to read the letter about zones of regulation and PBIS that was sent home in Thursday folders! We're still working really hard on regulating our emotions!
Hope you have a wonderful weekend!
With SO much love,
Ms. Ham
