We had a roller coaster of a week with amazing days Monday & Tuesday and then "not our best day" on Wednesday... and then recovered on Thursday! We earned our 100th paw card on Wednesday and we will be having our Paw Party on Monday! :)

In Writing, we've been hitting the writing process and magic lines really hard! We've been stretching our sounds to label and write sentences using as many sounds as we hear! Please note: phonetic spelling is perfectly acceptable UNLESS it is a sight word & then it must be spelled correctly!

The kids have been helping me write in my journal during interactive writing! They love this! We will be starting differentiated writing groups on Monday! These help me to meet your kiddo where he/she is at- some of us are ready to write more than one sentence, and some of us are still working on hearing that beginning sound when labeling! :)

If you look closely on our number corner board: we've been adding stickers to our ten frames and links on the chains for the number of days we've been in school! We've been talking a lot about EFFICIENCY! Yes, we can count every dot and still get the right answer, but we know there are 10 dots in a ten frame, so we can count by 10s when they're full! We had a friend say "but we don't need to count the top row on the last ten frame because we know there are 5! We can count: 10, 20, 25, 26, 27, 28." That earned a paw card for sure! :) We're establishing strong number sense!

We're still getting through 3 differentiated reading groups a day! I am DETERMINED we will get through 4 daily by fall break!

In math, we've been working on numbers within 10. We cut up a ten frame horizontally and taped it together so that it made a line... then we built number racks out of beads and pipe cleaners! We've been playing "Show me!" where they slide the beads to show me the number I asked. We've also been talking about how many more we would need to make 10! Number sense, number sense, number sense!
We continued reading and learning about Earth Science: Sun, Moon, & Stars!
We played some fun games in technology: Letter Tracing

We read a friend's library book, "For Pete's Sake!" and that kid quote melted my heart.

-Homework will go home on Monday because a scary amount of homework folders and/or book bags were missing today! I try not to email you constantly, but I may have to send out reminder emails for homework in the future!
-Thank you so much to those who donated for our bids-for-kids item! I only received a couple, so if you're willing to donate $2, I'd greatly appreciate it!
***Next week, we will be learning about properties of matter by studying apples and Johnny Appleseed. If you can help us with so many hands-on learning experiences, please sign up for something here!
LUNCH NUMBERS:
-If your child still doesn't know his/her lunch number, please practice that (regardless if he/she buys lunch, they need to know it!) :)
Have a wonderful long weekend!
