We had the best week! Like I mentioned in my email, I feel like we're in a sweet spot both behaviorally AND academically! They're really gettin' the hang of this kindergarten life and I'm getting to enjoy their little personalities so much more.
I am so impressed with how hard they've been working! We got to make some happy phone calls home and I wrote quite a few paw cards! On a similar note: please help me with praising them for their effort and resiliency rather than "being smart!" You will never hear me say that to them... but you will constantly hear me say how proud I am of them for how hard they tried, not giving up, etc... :)

We had kind of an interesting day on Wednesday with district people in our room installing our new projector... we were kicked out during reading, so we got to go to the learning commons and do different centers. The kids were OBSESSED!

Getting to write on the dry erase table!

Light boards, Lego wall, & Magnet Wall!
We learned our poems for 6, 7, 8, 9, & 10 this week in number corner:

Ask Your Child About:
-Phonological/Phonemic Awareness: Your child should have syllables and blending onset & rime mastered by now!
-Phonics: Hh (h, hat, /h/), Ll (l, lamp, /l/), Kk (k, kite, /k/)
-Writing: We've been working hard on using sight words and our sounds to write about pumpkins! We also added all of our sight words we've learned so far to our word wall... the kids have been loving this during write the room!

-Reading: We changed reading groups on Monday based on their latest data and we're really familiar with the routine! They come to my table ready to rock & roll! The favorite center this week was definitely letters and CVC words in the sand with our wonderful parent volunteers. :)
We've been doing extra read alouds because some of my all time favorite books are seasonal Halloween books. On Tuesday, we didn't get to do this because of technology and one of the kids said, "BUT we didn't read a Halloween book today!" and my teacher heart could have exploded. If nothing else, I hope they all leave room 17 loving books!
-Science: properties of matter- pumpkins
-Math: numerals 6-10, pattern block puzzles, counting by 2s with bicycles (to be continued next week)

FYI/Reminders:
-Library books are now due on Fridays with homework & book bags!
