Sorry for the week off last week, between traveling and then getting the stomach flu Sunday night and preparing for a sub last minute on Monday, it slipped my mind! I will do my best to keep this a reasonable length, but still fill you in on the last 2 weeks! We switched to social studies standards by learning about The First Thanksgiving; specifically the Pilgrims & Wampanoags/Native Americans. We are focusing on concepts of time and similarities/differences of then and now. The previous week we were still learning about matter through Halloween and Fall.
We've been talking about being thankful and made Thankful Turkeys:

Ask Your Child About:
-Phonics/Phonemic Awareness: blending & segmenting onset & rime, identifying rhyme, segmenting CVC words ("tapping out")
-Writing: In writing groups, some groups have started making tree maps using "is, can, has" to write THREE beautiful sentences! We wrote about turkeys, corn on the cob, and pie this week!

-Reading: We've been having a lot of fun at reading groups using different trackers! Witch fingers for Halloween & Eyeball rings in November!

-Social Studies: Pilgrims & Native Americans- concepts of time and similarities/differences of then and now.
-Math: we've still been focusing on doubles and counting by 2s. We played ten-frame and numbers bingo on Friday & they're getting pretty quick at subitizing!
We had such a good time at our Halloween party! Thank you to all who attended, donated, and volunteered!

We also had a great time at our 2nd Paw Party in our PJs!

FYI:
-Homework folders will go home Monday! Both of my volunteers weren't able to come in Friday, so if you're available Monday to do folders and book bags, please let me know! :)
-We are in the lead for Jump Rope for Heart! Keep up the great fundraising efforts!

(I think we're up to $700 now!)
-We're having a Veteran's Day Assembly tomorrow at 2:30!
-Thanksgiving Feast is this Wednesday during lunch (11:05) & I emailed out a pre-sign up link from the office to make checking in a quicker process! Hope to see you there!
-Thanksgiving Break starts Monday 11/19-11/23.
I hope you have a wonderful weekend!
With SO much love,
Ms. Ham
