Snowmen!
We switched gears a bit to snowmen this week, reading mainly fiction stories about snowmen!
We did some fun STEAM activities on Wednesday building sand snowmen & ice snowmen!
Our stuffies had the best time during the sleepover...
**Check facebook for the fun they had!
& we escaped going crazy cooped up inside for two days of indoor recess by going to the learning commons for afternoon recess on Wednesday and Thursday!
Ask Your Child About:
-Phonemic Awareness: middle sounds & sound manipulation
-Phonics: digraphs & diphthongs (they don't know the name, but!) "ow" says /ow/ like in cow & /ow/ like in snow.
-Writing: Tree maps & opinion writing about snowmen & snowballs!
-Reading: Using strategies to decode tricky words!
-Science: States of matter: snow & ice
-Math: Geometry- characteristics of shapes by attribute (curved sides, straight sides, etc.)
-Technology: Robots! They've been building robots that can move with Mrs. Tucker!
-STEAM: sand & ice snowmen, coffee sensory table, absorbing vs. reflecting light
FYI:
-Valentine's Day Party: Just a friendly reminder that we will be having a "kids only" Valentine party on the 14th! There is a note in your child's Thursday folder (going home today!) Your child will need a box or bag & 23 unaddressed Valentines!
-I'm placing a Scholastic order this weekend! Please use the code MBZFG if you'd like to order books!
-I will be out Tuesday & Thursday next week (Tuesday I will be in school but assessing kids & meeting about data)- they will have the same sub & she is wonderful, but heads up!
-No School Friday 2/15 or Monday 2/18!
Have a wonderful weekend!
With SO much love,
Ms. Ham
